You Alone are Worthy

Father you are worthy to be praised
Even in the darkest of days
When the world seems to spin out of control
And my life journey seems so unknown

In these darkest of days
It’s my pleasure to give you praise
For no matter what it may look like
You are orchestrating that which is unseen
And soon I shall see with my own eyes
All that you have for me

liamGrandma’s Little Man

(Written for Liam on the eve of his first birthday.)

When I look into your eyes I see a world of possibility
When I hold your hand I feel the love that no money can buy
When I see your smile, you light up my world

And when you walk into the room, all others fade away
And I only have eyes for you!

I never knew it would be like this
How was I to know?
That being a Grandma really rocks your world!

I call you “Grandma’s little man”
I know one day you’ll be a man
By the looks of it you’ll probably tower over me.

But I wanted you to know
That no matter how tall you stand
You’ll always be “Grandma’s little man.”

What's The Reason

Throughout the years somehow it changes
Eyes that sparkled with pure delight
In the anticipation of the morning bright
When many of us awoke at dawn
The rest of the house, oh how they yawned
To squeals of delight as we saw our tree
with presents set about so carefully

And now that we've grown it's a whole new situation
We're frantically spending and spending then dropping
From endless days of shopping and shopping

The Christmas season should be joy not sorrow
So make sure you have the money first
don't borrow
For long after you've given the gift
the bills will be there to stay
till you pay

Something is wrong this joyous season
We seem to have forgotten the real reason

Why did the wise men follow the star?
Who was the greatest gift of all?

Many years ago this day
A child was born and in a manger he lay
Sent to bring peace, joy and salvation
To every man, woman, child and nation

Jesus
He is the reason for the season

The End Is Just The Beginning…

The end of the age is drawing near
The fight is almost done
The race we will complete
With the finish line in sight

But how can we continue when our strength seems so weak?
We glory in His presence because He is strongest when we are weak.

We look to Jesus to change the Tide
With the eyes of our Spirit we gaze upon Him
And our problems will pale in the shadows
As we leave them all with Him.

But how can we continue when our strength seems so weak?
We glory in His presence because He is strongest when we are weak.

Oh glory, glory to the King of Kings
Oh glory to His name
Oh glory, glory to the King of Kings
We put You first each day.

One More Day

Through pain and sorrow
Just go one more day
Your answer will be that much closer
As you step out in His grace

Through tears and heartache
Just go one more day
Your help is around the corner
As you step out in His grace

Through rejection and suffering
Just go one more day
Hope is waiting for you
As you step out in His grace

Through loneliness and tears
Just go one more day
Divine appointments await you
As you step out in His grace

Through all the failure that comes your way
Just go one more day
I’m asking you
Just one more day

Know this, there will always be a brighter day
Because in the end hope will reign
As you step out in His grace.

Life Lesson #2:
It’s Not All About You!

Do you think that people are only here to serve you?

To magnify
To glorify
To respect
To agree
And serve just you?

Then, you’ve got it upside down, backwards and totally askew!

You certainly have a very small view of yourself and the whole world too.
The world doesn’t spin just for you,
It spins for others too.

The sooner you realize this, the better life will be for you, and those around you too.

Look at others not for what they can do for you.
Please, Please look at them anew.

What can you do to help another through?
Help lift them up to their mountaintop,
You’ll give them a brand new view.

When you help someone else win, believe it or not
You win too.

Don’t wear reflective glasses that reflect all attention back to you.
Remember this life lesson, it’s not all about You!

Reflect your light to others
Think about them first
Serve them with all your might

Amazing things will happen
And your life will turn out to be all right.

Let me ask you this one question, “How do you want to be remembered?”
For all the power you imposed?
For having and doing it all your way?

Or better yet, for having the heart of a servant.
And for all the lives you’ve made better
By a few small deeds,

Done quietly, and out of plain sight

A few small words spoken in love from your heart,
Or a warm embrace

A few powerful words to encourage others
Perhaps one who has lost their way, their hope, and their joy.

Begin today to live a life of compassion that can begin to heal the masses.

As for me, I’ll take the latter of the two
“How about You?”

Other People

Don’t let what people do
Block the blessings God has for you
For it’s not what others say or do
It’s how you respond, that keeps the blessings
Far from you

God is very, very clear
We cannot change what others decide to do
We can only to our own selves be true
So don’t waste your time being sad and blue
Instead let the joy of God wash all over you.

Be a good finder and soon your life will be
Filled with showers of blessing raining down upon you
So much so that you’ll have to give some away
This is what God has in store for you, even this day

Don’t let your flesh get in the way
For if you do
You’ll become just like those
Who have done you wrong
Even if unjustly so

Take the higher road
The road of joy, peace and love
The road that God has set before you
For even when others fail you

God will always do right by you.

“The end result is what?” you might ask
You’ll win the victory not only for you
But you will mark the way
For many others too.

“Self-Catraz” – A Personal Prison

I am reduced to a number
My home is made of steel and stone
I stand alone in my misery
Alone
My heart aches
Alone
No choices to make

Afraid
Of what might be
Afraid
What will happen to me?
Dreams vanquished

Plans undone
My hearts song
Left unsung
Prison
What it’s done to me

A New You

Do your best
Don't worry about all the rest
For deep inside you lies the key
Jesus
He is the only way to be free

The ways of this world are many
With countless paths to choose
So don't opt for someone else's
God created one just for you

Your success can't be measured by what others say or do
How they assess your success or failure
Or what they think you should or shouldn't do

Each day you must walk a brand new walk
And motivate yourself with God's very own Word
And you will soon see a brand new you
An even greater blessing to those around you

The mistakes of yesterday are now long on their way
Cast deep into the sea of forgetfulness
That is where they need to stay
And you will be victorious in your own way

As you stir up the excellence inside you
God will meet you at your need
And you will reap in due season
Don't allow yourself to be deceived

The world will be a richer place
When they see that determination written on your face
Listen to the Holy Spirit and he'll speak to you
Then remember, it now depends on what you do!

Courage Is Your Portion

Stand against the enemy
Fight the good fight of Faith
God has empowered you to do this
With the power of His Word
and by His grace

Determine to stand and you will soon see
The "Land of the Little While"
Has come and gone
You are now on your way to Victory!

For all things are possible if you just believe
So with all your being stand in faith 'til it's achieved

Be encouraged in your walk with the Lord
Being sure to take His hand along the way
When discouragement comes
And it will
You must remember what Jesus said,
"Take courage. It is I. Be not afraid."

So as you stir up the courage inside you
God will meet you at your need
And you will reap in due season
If you do not allow yourself to be deceived

Commit yourself for the duration
Casting those mountains into the sea
Knowing always that should you stumble
You'll never fall
For God is there with you
through it all

Friendship - A Gift

some people think that life is measured
by the cash that they have stashed
or by the money they have amassed
whoever said that's how it's counted
was sorely mistaken
that's not at all how life should be taken

material things can be taken away
but the joy of a good friend will always stay
no matter if they are near or far away
whatever the distance in your heart they'll always stay

in times of trouble they'll always lend an ear
to all your toils they'll sit and hear
and when the time for advice is at hand
they'll always take a truthful stand

it was once said that if on one hand you could count
the friends this life has given you
then you were many many times blessed

we call ourselves blessed this day
for God has sent you, our way

I Shall Go On…

Your death has caused me to address the many things I feel
Do I hide my face from all the world?
Or, do I carry on?
Do I let fear surround me?
Or do I break those chains designed to bind me?
Do I harden my heart and love no more?
Or do I keep it soft and decide to love more and more?
Life seems so fragile at times like these, so quick so fleeting.
Somehow so pointless.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust…
But this is not the end!

I Shall Go On…

I shall go on to laugh and cry

I shall go on to share myself with others

I shall go on…
I shall go on…
I shall go on…

I Shall Go On…

In the Night

When the night has fallen
And all hope seems to have drifted away
There is a light that shines in the darkness
It is the King of Kings

For if you’ll look up
Instead of down
You’ll see His hand out stretched
When you place your hand in His
You’ll find yourself at rest.

For He’ll walk with you
He’ll talk with you
When the storm is done
You’ll know who you are “In Him”
For a new day has begun!

A Poem For You Dear Mother

(Written to you Mom, in the 1960's)

I love you dear mother,
To me there is no other,
Who could take the place of you,
You're lovely, and pretty and all things like that
You're far from fat.

My heart beats like no other,
When you're around dear mother.
You're tender and gentle and full of kindness,
And this is what binds me,
You are an angel,
Blessed from heaven to me,
You're blessings and sweetness
have no fee.
And these are all the things that you mean to me.

My Mother, My Friend

Everyone has a Mother
But not one as fine
I think you’re divine
And, oh by the way…as an only child
You’re all mine!

Born as a skinny little girl
The umbilical cord was wrapped around your neck
It was a good thing your Dad was quick to act
Or you wouldn’t be here and neither would I
As a matter of fact!

You didn’t talk until you were three
I’m sure glad it didn’t rub off on me
Being born in a Macedonian home
With so much talking
I just can’t imagine why you never even said a peep!

Remember those days when you would wake up early
And sneak down stairs to have breakfast with your dad
Because being the third in line
Those were the only private moments you had.

You are a woman, my mother, my friend
You have always been ahead of your time
A woman who would never quit
For no matter what this life has thrown your way
You have always lived by and instilled in me,
“There will always be a better day!”

It has been said that we are shaped and fashioned by those we love. For seventy years I had the privilege of being shaped and loved by the best mother a girl could ever have. She has since gone home to be with the Lord. Praise God, I know we will be together again one day!

“And Father God until that day I will do my best to always serve You!”

My Prayer

Father I pray
That you lead me this day
To where I need to be
And what I need to say

With your help I will make it all the way!

For everything you have for me
Is in your Master plan
As I step out into that plan You are there
And daily we’ll walk hand in hand

Your love always sees me through!
